What Customers Say About 5 Steps to a 5 AP World History, 2008-2009 Edition (5 Steps to a 5 on the Advanced Placement Examinations Series):

My first teacher was absolutely horrid, and I used this book to cover all the first semester material that I was not able to fully learn. I had never taken an AP Exam before, so I was not sure of what AP prep book to buy. For my sophomore year (last year) in high school, I signed up for AP World History. By the time I took the AP Exam, I had already finished reading every page and had taken the diagnostic test and the two practice exams (I started studying a couple of weeks before the test, but I recommend starting around the beginning of 2nd Semester). If I had to take the AP World Exam again, I would definitely recommend this book again. I ended up looking at some Amazon reviews, and finally decided to buy this book - trust me, it's a good idea. You see, at the end of my first semester, our class had switched AP World teachers. I compared my 5 Steps with my friends' Barron's, and this is much, much better. And yes, I got a 5 :]

My teacher told us to get this book for the things our regular text book doesn't cover enough. The 5 Steps to a 5 AP World History book is a great book for this class. I'm a sophomore, so I need all the help I can get. Was great and makes things about AP World History more interesting. Would recommend totally.

This is one of the books that you should get to review for the AP World Exam. There are also numerous suggestions for comparisons [another Essay style] The review questions after the chapter and the practice tests are helpful although not that realistic. The other book that will be really helpful is Princeton Review's guideThis book is extremely organized into good chapters with sufficient details. There are excellent charts at the end of each unit that summarizes changes and continuities [one of the essay formats on the real exam] for that unit. I suggest purchasing official tests from the Collegeboard store for practice. All in all, combine this with Princeton and you will be in good shape. I will update the review with my grade once I get them, for those that are interested.

It had three practice tests, mini-quizzes throughout each lesson, tips on essay writing and rubrics, and section reviews to essentially teach you everything you need to know about World History from 8000 B.C.E-Present. I was taking this exam in tenth grade, and needless to say, I was scared. This book practically erased my fears though. My favorite part of this book, however, was the helpful charts from five different periods that summarized the political, social, and economical aspect of each world region, as well as changes and continuities. I recommend this book to anyone planning to take the AP exam.

This book was perfect for going over all the facts needed and stick on all these names and dates that you don't really need to know for the exam. This AP Review book is certainly a must for all students who need a review book for this course. First off let me start by comparing this book to the others, the Advanced Placement World History course is NOT about memorizing dates and names but rather comparing different civilizations. My APWH recommended this book because its a broad overview which is what we needed for this course. I would recommend this book to any APWH student with the advice to purchase it early in the year so you can review the section you are working on in class with the matching one in the book.
